| Steroids have an anti-inflammatory effect and more effective in the prevention of asthma rather than in the treatment of an acute attack .they reduce the inflammation in the airways and also modulate the immune response to allergens. Steroids can be administered but many of the sade effects of steroids can be avoided ,as the blood concentration of the drug remains low .however,some patients need to take steroids are taken regularly to be effective .Although steroids are usually given during an acute attack, it probably takes som considerable time for them to have an acute effect. |
