Carothers included such polymers by defining conden-sation polymers as those in which the formula of the repeating unit lacks certain atoms that are present in the monomer(s) from which it is formed or to which it may be degraded. 大体结构是：卡罗瑟斯通过将XXX定义为YYY的方法，将ZZZ包括进来。 通顺一点儿的翻译：卡罗瑟斯认为，如某种物质中的重复单元（重复链段）缺失了某些原子，而这些原子在构成该物质的单体中原本是存在，或者该物质可以降解为含有这些原子的单体，那么该物质即可被定义为缩聚物。通过这样的定义方法，卡罗瑟斯就把这些聚合物也包含进来了。 （注：“这些聚合物”such polymers是前文中提到的，并不是重复该句的概念。） |
