2- Page 12, lines 226 to 228:
"The carotenoids and  gum produced by the wild-type strain were closely bound together, which led to difficulties in  recovery, requiring large amounts of alcohol."
In fact, the pigment produced by the wild-type strain binds to the gum and confers a yellow color to the product. This implies of course the needs to purify properly using additional steps, such as extra amounts of ethanol. In the opinion of this referee, the large amount of alcohol required is mainly associated with the dilution of the fermentation media rather than with the presence of the yellow pigment.
这个意思是说我引用文献不当吗？可是这句话我没引用参考文献啊，是我自己写的，难道审稿人认为这句话和下一句话都是引用的？况且下一句话引用的参考文献也不是说用来dilution of the fermentation media的。是不是要找到参考文献来支持这个说法呢？可貌似也找不到文献来说明这个问题。实在搞不明白，恳请大家帮忙分析一下。谢谢

referee的意思是对你文章所写的东西有所怀疑，特别是醇的作用，审稿人认为你加入大量的醇可能是起到了稀释作用。

楼主可能在文中把你的体系描写的过于好了，审稿人觉得不合理。给你指出来你这个体系中海存在的问题。比如觉得你产物yellow需要纯化这些。

不是说参考文献的事情，而是有关实验细节的问题。

个人意见，希望对楼主有用吧。

In the opinion of this referee，这个来看应该不是本人自己评审，而是第三人语气。
