请教一下文献中的一句话的主谓结构 已有2人参与

While these observations of field effects on grain growth have important implications in the processing of materials, their underlying cause is not yet clear, a circumstance that does not diminish their importance but clearly suggests that more research needs to be carried out. circumstance对应的谓语是哪个？还是说circumstance没有谓语、从circumstance开始的后半句就是个独立名词+后面的定语从句？ 谢谢！ |

While these observations of field effects on grain growth have important implications in the processing of materials, their underlying cause is not yet clear, a circumstance that does not diminish their importance but clearly suggests that more research needs to be carried out. 我个人认为从circumstance开始的后半句就是个独立名词+后面的定语从句。a circumstance that（does not diminish their importance ）but （clearly suggests that more research needs to be carried out.）两个括号内的内容是递进的。句子中两个their是指implications 因为不知道前后句境，目前我个人认为整个句子翻译下来是：（然而这些土地对谷物生长影响的观测结果与材料的处理有重要关联，虽然它们的潜在原因尚不明确，一项条件不能削弱他们的重要关联性，但清楚地表明需要做更多相关的研究。） |

自己回复一下，查了一些资料，a circumstance that也是个半固定的用法，相对于前面的半句，它就是个同位语，没有对应的谓语(这是可以的)，后面自然就是它的定语了： 例如1： According to the report, a failure to implement regulations allowed the inmates to move freely through the prison block at night, a circumstance that permitted them to escape through a tunnel that opened into an unlocked cell. This showed that some prison officials were implicated in the plot, the report said. http://online.wsj.com/news/artic ... 4576286563952623804 例如2： Many mortgages were sold by the original lender, a circumstance that homeowners’ lawyers try to exploit by asking them to prove they own the loan. http://article.yeeyan.org/view/151340/108428 这都是正规出版文字中的例子。 |
