This manuscript highlights the solution blown synthesis of aligned carbon nanofiber yarn for an application in supercapacitor electrode. The topic is important and interesting in the fields of materials science and nanotechnology. However, the results provided herein are not sufficient to prove authors' claims. Therefore, I think that this manuscript is not publishable in this form, but can be reviewed again in revised form. The details of comments are as followed:
1. Although TEM and XRD data are shown, the formation of graphitic carbon was not acceptable. I could not find any fringed lattice in TEM image and any sharp peak in XRD pattern at all. Additionally, Raman spectra should be taken to check the degree of defect and graphitization.
2. Electrochemical window shown in CV and galvanostatic charge/discharge (GCD) curves is below 0.3 V. Considering electrochemical window of ~ 1V in aqueous electrolytes in general, the measured window is so narrow. It is recommended to explain why electrochemical window is shortened.
3. Authors claimed low charge transfer resistance as a consequence of small semicircle and EDLC type mechanism as a result of a rectangular shape in CV curve. Why carbon yarn could show charge transfer resistance despite non-faradic process through EDLC type mechanism of charge storage?
4. It is thought that this carbon yarn has observable degree of defect if Raman spectra are measured. This question can be supported by TEM, XRD, and electrochemical data. The existence of sloped GCD curve is attributed to the pseudocapacitance arising from the defect. This point should be clearly discussed.
5. Authors should clarify the procedures of supercapacitor characterization. The capacitance should be measured using two electrode configuration. What is the mass of active materials?
