Title of Dissertation: Wastewater management system and environmental impacts in China. Introduction: (Brief background to your topic stating its motivation, purpose, importance and relevance. This must be of sufficient complexity and depth for MSc level work.) There are many kinds of wastewater in UK, so China as well. We can divide the wastewater into two main categories firstly : living wastewater, and industrial wastewater. In living wastewater and industrial wastewater, there are also many kinds of categories according to the contamination contains. China has its own system and regulations to manage and treat the wastewater after produced. The system is completed and not work very well now, so China has brought many new measures to improve the systems’ efficiency. The wastewater treatment has a long history and can bring lots of environmental effects for the future. Aims & Objectives: (Statement of the aims of your dissertation and what you intend to do to achieve them; the objectives must be SMART – specific, measurable, achievable, realistic/relevant and time bound. You should use descriptors that set the work at MSc level – e.g. critically evaluate, critically analyse, creatively design, creatively propose, synthesise, systematically investigate, etc) What is the wastewater management system in China? What is it contains? Critically evaluate the history of wastewater management system in China. Critically evaluate the refine management system about the wastewater in China now. The development of the system in the future. Find out the environmental effects which brought by the wastewater management system. Proposed Methodology: (How you intend to achieve your stated objectives. The materials and methods – data acquisition, processing analysis and interpretation - you expect to use for this purpose. These may be tentative initially) The legislation review/analysis in China; Researching information in some relative literatures. Case study ( chosen one city in China, one integrity management system according to one certain wastewater, and who charged for them.) Expected Outcome: (Your findings are not known at this stage but you may have an idea of what outcomes you expect or how you intend to analyse and interpret the data acquired) How does the wastewater management system work in china? What are the whole management processes of wastewater treatment? What does it contain? The wastewater management system’s history review and the purpose in the future. The advantages/disadvantages of the system at the moment. The relative environmental impacts. Time Scales: (Break down your dissertation work into subtasks and assign time scales to each task in order to ensure you complete your work in the available time) The legislation/document review/analysis, (01/07/07-10/07/07); Searching and collection information/data for the case stud,.(15/07/07-15/08/07); Analysis the information/data of the case study and write the outlines, (16/08/07-31/08/07); Amending write details and completes this essay, (01/09/07-31/09/07). Dissertation length: While we encourage you to focus on the quality of your work, it is equally important to ensure that the word count for your dissertation – excluding figures and tables – is approximately 15,000. References: References must be clearly made wherever appropriate. Dissertation without appropriate references will not pass!
