[求助] 长难句

In order to understand the nature of the ecologist's investigation, we may think of the density-dependent effects on growth paramaters as the signal ecologists are trying to isolate and interpret, one that tends to make the population increase from relatively low values or decrease from relatively high ones, while the density-independent effects act to produce noise in the population dynamics.

请问ONE后面这长的复合结构是修饰前面哪个词或者哪部分啊？

we may think of the density-dependent effects on growth paramaters as the signal    （ ecologists are trying to isolate and interpret括号中的内容修饰signal）, one that tends to make the population increase from relatively low values or decrease from relatively high ones（one 我想应该也是修饰signal吧。我们可以把density-dependent 在growth paramaters 中的作用看作一个signal，这个signal的作用是人口少时在density-dependent 作用下会增加，人口多时在density-dependent 的作用下会减少）,

while the density-independent effects act to produce noise in the population dynamics（而density-independent 则起着一个类似噪音的作用）.

注意了，signal和noise应该都是相匹配的，signal相当于起到信号作用的“好”波，而noise是起到干扰作用的“坏”波。

The main part of the sentence is ：".....we may think of......,while the density-independent effects act to....";

1. "as the signal ecologists are trying to isolate and interpret". The above sentence is a Attributive Clauses attached to "growth parameters".
2. "one that tends to make the population increase from relatively low values or decrease from relatively high ones". The word "one" is an Appositive attached to the words "growth parameters". And "that tends to make the population increase from relatively low values or decrease from relatively high ones" is an apposive attached to the word "one".

I cannot type Chinese characters here. So I have to explain the structures of the sentence in English. Hope the explanation above can help solve your problem.

我觉得，你说的很独特，尤其是后半句的理解，可是你提到的第一，主句居然不是we may think of....as !这个实在不明白，而且按照你的理解，怎么和while 引导的句子对应？
另外，growth parameters是复数，那么one引导的其同位语是举其一个例子来说明？请教！

大概是这样吧，我考过G已经有些日子了··· 我记得杨鹏的长难句大概也是这样。自己觉得能理解就行了，不要纠结于一个具体的汉文翻译，可能翻译在表述时也有问题，不过神是一样的。
PS：主句应该是we may think of....as ，这是个固定搭配嘛！

如果主句是 think of as 的话，as后面的句子的isolate可没有宾语了啊...
as是可以引导宾语从句的。。
