Wuwei lies at the east end of the Hexi Corridor, with the Qilian Mountains on its south and Inner Mongolia on its north. Its terrain is varied, generally sloping from the south to the north. Within its territory the prevailing winds are from northwest by west.

Wuwei city is located at the east end  of the Hexi Corridor, next  to the Qilian mountain in south and Inner Mongolia in north. The configuration of the lands are compolicated, high in south and low in north. West-northwest winds dominate.
