| In complex 2, each HPIDC anion adopts a μ3-kN, O:k', O" :kN' mode connecting three Mn centers in bis-(bidentate) and one monodentate modes (Scheme 2) in different orientation leading to the three-dimensional framework (Fig. 4). Interestingly, the three-dimensional framework consists of one-dimensional channels along the [0 0 1] direction (Fig. 5). After the van der Waals radii of the surface atoms were removed, the free channel is sized ca. 5.4 × 6.5 A calculation by PLATON indicates the free volume of channels occupy 17% of the crystal volume. The channels are resided by uncoordinated water molecules which connect with each other through hydrogen bonds (Table 5) to form a 1D zigzag water chain. |
