While wealthy millionares often show off at charity donations, typical not-so-wealthy people donate their whole stock for appreciation of the helps received. For the rich, it otherwise represents eminence and luxury. However, the several coins are usually forced out of the moneybags, just like Kong Yi-ji. On the contrary, the wage-earners would empty their meager income just in token of gratitude to those giving them a hand. So, the gold coins reflect whether one can treat others generously. It further reflects one’s attitude toward charging and offering. |

评贴： （1） 首先感谢两位参与我的话题； （2） 第一句：金币是什么？G版把金币翻成“golden treasure”似乎不妥，因为照字面意思，golden treasure是黄金宝藏的意思，和原文有偏离。R版翻译为gold coin个人认为比较恰当。另外G版和R版都采用了what is it for的句型。所以总体看，在这一句上，R版得1分。 （3） 第二句：金币对穷人意味着温饱和尊严，对富人意味着地位和荣耀。这里穷人和富人是泛指，所以G版中的poor前面要加the，G版中把温饱翻译成了food与原文有出入，R版中加入了clothing，要好一点。R版中采用了意译，另外二者都把地位和荣耀翻译为status和glory，所以这一句，G版和R版打个平手。但是G版在前，按新版规，G版在这一句上得1分。 （4） 第三句：腰缠万贯的金币大户们往往是从口袋里排出金币，如孔乙己一般。而并不富裕的金币持有者却往往倾其所有，答谢给他帮助的人。G版的译文直译是：富裕的百万富翁在慈善捐赠上作秀，与原文出人较大，且把腰缠万贯用wealthy来表达不妥，而用wealthy来形容millionnairs显得多此一举，有穷的百万富翁吗？而且把millionnaire给拼错了。G版把“并不富裕的金币持有者却往往倾其所有，答谢给他帮助的人”翻成“typical not-so-wealthy people donate their whole stock for appreciation of the helps received.”个人认为也不好，not-so-wealthy是不是非常富裕和并不富裕有点差别，用donate这里不妥，答谢是一种付出，不是捐赠，用stock容易和后面的appreciation引起歧义，（appreciation有升值的意思，stock有股票的意思。） R版中仅仅用big holder难以表达腰缠万贯的金币大户的意思，仅仅是份额的大的占有者（好像控股人一样），R版用press表示排的意思，虽不很准确，但比较生动，用miser委婉表示孔乙己，也比较好。虽然pocket拼错了，但总体看来，这一句上R版得1分。 （5） 第四句，所以，金币折射了一个人是否宽以待人，折射了一个人对待给予和索取的态度。G版“As such, the golden treasure menefests itself as the personality, compromise, and gratitude of the holder.”直译为“这样，黄金宝藏就表明了持有者的人格，妥协和感激”首先把attitude误为“gratitude”，没有把宽以待人译出来，而且感觉和原文不是吻合的很好。 R版用“Therefore, the golden coins reveal such nature as whether to Live and let live, further more the attitudes towards the give-and-take”。R版用了两个习惯用法“live and let live”（我活也让别人活，表示宽以待人，相对较好）。“give-and-take”用来表示给予和索取，稍有不妥，但也说得过去，而且扣原文较紧。综合来看，R版得1分。 所以，总的来说，R版的好一些，按照新的版规，这100个币值要给R版，请G版原谅了。 |

我认为4楼的翻译是上面最好的，翻译的比较有味道，不过个人认为一点点小细节的地方可以进一步商榷，稍做修改： What’re the gold coins for? They bring the food, clothing and dignity for the poor, or the status and glory for the rich. The fact is that the big holders often press their coins one by one from their pochets like a miser，while the not-yet rich ones give what they have to thank those who have helped them. Therefore, how to spend the golden coins reveal whether the holders have kindness to others, and their attitudes towards give-and-take. |
