| However, osteoclast activity requires the activation of the multinucleated cells in order to establish the cytoskeletal arrangements for adhering to the mineralized surface. It can be observed when some bisphosphonates, like sodium alendronate, are administered to animals or to cultures. Indeed, after alendronate treatment the osteoclast precursores are recruited, proliferated, and multinucleated, but they are not activated. |
