Prophage-like elements present in Mycobacterium genomes ×÷Õß:Fan, XY (Fan, Xiangyu)[ 1 ] ; Xie, LX (Xie, Longxiang)[ 1 ] ; Li, W (Li, Wu)[ 1 ] ; Xie, JP (Xie, Jianping)[ 1 ] BMC GENOMICS ¾í: 15 ÎÄÏ׺Å: 243 DOI: 10.1186/1471-2164-15-243 ³ö°æÄê: MAR 27 2014 ²é¿´ÆÚ¿¯ÐÅÏ¢ ÕªÒª Background: Prophages, integral components of many bacterial genomes, play significant roles in cognate host bacteria, such as virulence, toxin biosynthesis and secretion, fitness cost, genomic variations, and evolution. Many prophages and prophage-like elements present in sequenced bacterial genomes, such as Bifidobacteria, Lactococcus and Streptococcus, have been described. However, information for the prophage of Mycobacterium remains poorly defined. Results: In this study, based on the search of the complete genome database from GenBank, the Whole Genome Shotgun (WGS) databases, and some published literatures, thirty-three prophages were described in detail. Eleven of them were full-length prophages, and others were prophage-like elements. Eleven prophages were firstly revealed. They were phiMAV_1, phiMAV_2, phiMmcs_1, phiMmcs_2, phiMkms_1, phiMkms_2, phiBN42_1, phiBN44_1, phiMCAN_1, phiMycsm_1, and phiW7S_1. Their genomes and gene contents were firstly analyzed. Furthermore, comparative genomics analyses among mycobacterioprophages showed that full-length prophage phi172_2 belonged to mycobacteriophage Cluster A and the phiMmcs_1, phiMkms_1, phiBN44_1, and phiMCAN_1 shared high homology and could be classified into one group. Conclusions: To our knowledge, this is the first systematic characterization of mycobacterioprophages, their genomic organization and phylogeny. This information will afford more understanding of the biology of Mycobacterium. ¹Ø¼ü´Ê ×÷Õ߹ؼü´Ê rophage; Mycobacterioprophage; Phylogeny; Comparative genomicsKeyWords Plus:VI SECRETION SYSTEM; PROVIDES INSIGHTS; SEQUENCES; STRAIN; TUBERCULOSIS; INTEGRATION; EVOLUTION; ABSCESSUS; GENES; TOOL ×÷ÕßÐÅÏ¢ ͨѶ×÷ÕßµØÖ·: Xie, JP (ͨѶ×÷Õß) Southwest Univ, State Key Lab Breeding Base Gorges Ecoenvironm &, Ecoenvironm Key Lab Gorges Reservoir Reg 3, Inst Modern Biopharmaceut,Minist Educ,Sch Life Sc, Chongqing 400715, Peoples R China. µØÖ·: [ 1 ] Southwest Univ, State Key Lab Breeding Base Gorges Ecoenvironm &, Ecoenvironm Key Lab Gorges Reservoir Reg 3, Inst Modern Biopharmaceut,Minist Educ,Sch Life Sc, Chongqing 400715, Peoples R China µç×ÓÓʼþµØÖ·:georgex@swu.edu.cn »ù½ð×ÊÖúÖÂл »ù½ð×ÊÖú»ú¹¹ ÊÚȨºÅ National Natural Science Foundation 81371851 81071316 81271882 81301394 New Century Excellent Talents in Universities NCET-11-0703 National Megaprojects for Key Infectious Diseases 2008ZX10003-006 Excellent PhD thesis fellowship of southwest university kb2010017 ky2011003 Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities XDJK2011D006 XDJK2012D011 XDJK2012D007 XDJK2013D003 XDJK2014D040 Chongqing municipal committee of Education for postgraduates excellence program YJG123104 undergraduates teaching reform program 2011JY052 ²é¿´»ù½ð×ÊÖúÐÅÏ¢ ³ö°æÉÌ BIOMED CENTRAL LTD, 236 GRAYS INN RD, FLOOR 6, LONDON WC1X 8HL, ENGLAND Àà±ð / ·ÖÀà Ñо¿·½Ïò:Biotechnology & Applied Microbiology; Genetics & Heredity Web of Science Àà±ð:Biotechnology & Applied Microbiology; Genetics & Heredity ÎÄÏ×ÐÅÏ¢ ÎÄÏ×ÀàÐÍ:Article ÓïÖÖ:English Èë²ØºÅ: WOS:000334951800001 PubMed ID: 24673856 ISSN: 1471-2164 ÆÚ¿¯ÐÅÏ¢ Impact Factor (Ó°ÏìÒò×Ó): Journal Citation Reports® ÆäËûÐÅÏ¢ IDS ºÅ: AF8FU Web of Science ºËÐĺϼ¯ÖÐµÄ "ÒýÓõIJο¼ÎÄÏ×": 38 Web of Science ºËÐĺϼ¯ÖÐµÄ "±»ÒýƵ´Î": 0 |
