Please ensure therefore that you log on to the journal site and check if any attachments have been provided. COMMENTS FROM EDITORS AND REVIEWERS Reviewer #1: This is an excellent paper. It should be interesting to perform standard tensile and fatigue testing to see the differences compared with base material. Reviewer #2: In this manuscript, the aluminum alloy matrix was partially melted and <alpha>-aluminum dendrites and eutectic silicon occurred in the friction stir weld. The formation mechanism of microstructural characteristics was mainly discussed. The research work lacks in novelty and did not contribute new information to the field. The reviewer don't think it is suitable for being published on the journal. The authors can rewrite their manuscript extensively according to the following considerations: 1)It is not clear the message the authors would like to provide to the scientific community; what is new in this manuscript with respect to the cited literature? 2)No information are given about the microstructure of the base material without friction stir weld treatment and the preparation technology of the base material. 3)The author should explain the formation mechanism of microstructural characteristics combining with the XRD and EDS. 4)Is an unusual melting phenomenon only observed in the friction stir welds with welding speeds of 50 mm/min and 150 mm/min? What is low or high welding speeds? 5)The reference [8] should be corrected. 请大家看看这两个审稿人的意见，我觉得第二个审稿人貌似非常不看好我的内容，是不是需要补数据什么的？ |
