Two reasons might explain this phenomena: a) the carbon phase is not well ordered (amorphous-like) and hence gives a similar projected potential as the surrounding amorphous SiCN and/or, b) the ordered carbon regions are considerably smaller than the foil thickness (10–20 nm) illuminated by the electron beam. |
