The first sentence, normally we don't say "we think...not"
we use "we don't think"instead.
In addition, I didn't quite get it when you say "give others freely"
If you are confident with your writing, then paraphrase it. If you are not sure, just leave it there unchanged.
I would say "I don't think this legacy should be treated lightly."

The second sentence, though you changed the meaning of my original sentence, it's ultimate goal to get every sentence error-free. I would say "when you are about to make a decision, no matter how small the decision is, you should treat it seriously."

The third sentence. You didn't get the meaning of "upset"right.
I would say "It's hard for people to tell whether he made a positive or negative contribution in Australian politics progression."

It's error free but still somewhat unclear.

When it's more descriptive, probably you have better chance to receive a higher mark.

He is stuck in the middle when it comes to decision making, because it's hard for him to tell which way is better for him to go.
