The "land value" is the value of the land -- i.e., the physical ground and dirt that makes up the land. The "improvement value" is the value of the improvements -- an "improvement' usually means a home/house/structure of some type. So, if you own a house for example, the land that the house sits on is the "land value" and the house itself is the "improvement." Add the two together and you get the TOTAL VALUE which is different from ASSESSMENT VALUE.

Assessment value is a somewhat arbitrary figure that your local property tax collector determines and then has a formula to calculate your annual real estate property taxes. The assessment value is usually significantly lower than the TOTAL VALUE but this varies from state to state.

根据你所说的，single number improvement values ∆RW似乎应译为单变量增加值∆RW，物理学中有这种用法，和上面的房地产中的用法不一样，让我再查查，如有不妥，再告知你！！！

你好，我受到single digit improvement 的启发， 这里指个位数的改进（即不超过9%）。诚然，这里不是single digit 而是single number， 但我觉得从上下文看，还是有联系的，尽管我不能100%认定。所以我的意见仅供参考。

还有另外一种考虑，就是指某改进仅限于单一变量，而不是改进多个。

The aim of this experiment was to study the effects of cereals and cereal by-products supplemented with non-starch polysaccharides (NSP) enzyme on nutrient utilization rates of meat ducks. A total of 56 healthy adult male meat Ma ducks with the body weight about 2.0 kg were randomly divided into 7 groups and 8 replicates in each group. Metabolic test was carried out by 'hunger strike-gavage method' to determine apparent and true utilization rates of dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP), ether extract (EE) and crude fiber (CF) of 14 kinds of cereals and cereal by-products before and after adding NSP enzyme. The results showed that most of the 14 kinds of cereals and cereal by-products adding with NSP enzyme could improve the apparent and true utilization rates of DM, CP, EE and CF. Among them, the apparent utilization rates of DM, CP, EE and CF of corn were increased by 6.69% (P<0.01), 24.73% (P<0.05), 7.40% (P>0.05) and 9.95% (P<0.05), respectively; the apparent utilization rates of CP and CF of rice bran were increased by 14.20% and 4.55% (P>0.05), respectively; the apparent utilization rates of EE and CF of DDGS were increased by 12.57% and 4.99% (P>0.05), respectively; the apparent utilization rates of DM and CP of secondary flour were increased by 1.26% and 13.87% (P>0.05), respectively. NSP enzyme addition could make most of the cereals and cereal by-products release additional effective nutrients.
The effective nutrient improvement value (ENIV) range        
of DM was 0.09 to 46.92 g/kg, the ENIV range of CP was 0.49 to 9.55 g/kg, the ENIV range of EE was 0.13 to 8.85 g/kg and the ENIV range of CF was 0.31 to 7.78 g/kg. The results indicate that cereals and cereal by-products adding with NSP enzyme can improve the nutrient utilization rates of meat ducks in different extent.
有效营养改进值(effective nutrient improvement value,ENIV)为加酶后与加酶前的表观可利用养分值之差
根据7楼的 （还有另外一种考虑，就是指某改进仅限于单一变量，而不是改进多个。）
认为译为单（一）变量改进值∆RW，与原文更符合。为何用改进不用增加，实际应为变化，不一定是增加，减少也是可能的。物理学中improvement value 也有这种用法的！
