Based on their lipophilic properties, concentrations and spatial distributions of 16 EPA-PAHs in sediment and soil have been extensivey investigated. However, the pollution of PAHs in sediment and soil is a long-term complex accumulation process which could not reflect the current pollution and sources, but the environment pollution degree in a long period. Moreover, the soluble PAHs in surface water have direct toxicity to organisms.
