A mixture of 1H-benzo[d]imidazol-1-ol
(1 mmol) and 1-chloro-2-(chloromethyl)benzene (1 mmol)
was stirred in refluxing acetone (10 mL).
The progress of the reaction was monitored by TLC. After the completion
of the reaction, the mixture was cooled to room temperature,
stick-shaped crystals were formed, which was filtered off, washed with
ethanol and dried in the air.
