The reliability growth theory and reliability prediction theory have been become hot research directions that receive much concern in reliability engineering, involving statistical theory, information theory, failure physics, system engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science and technology and other subjects at present, and have a broad application prospect. Furthermore, it's an urgent research task to make scientific prediction of the product reliability during the research and development period and the future product reliability using the current information. Therefore, a new proposition of system reliability growth prediction theory and method study were proposed based on random process theory, information fusion technology, and small sample statistical theory, through integrating prediction theory into reliability growth technology, and taking the study of major equipment reliability as a breakthrough point. Then, reliability growth prediction technology during the trial operation phase, system reliability synthesis and prediction method, and related prediction technology in the operation period for wind turbine were further discussed combined with the engineering background. The achievements not only open up new methods to study wind turbine reliability, but also become demonstration for other major equipment reliability study.
