If there is an internal candidate (an employee) for example that steps forward - they might get pushed to the head of the line so to speak. If the hiring manager goes on vacation for 2 weeks, that would certainly delay things. If the company¡¯s revenue stream suddenly changes because they lose a big client or if they have a problem with their product line - this might delay hiring because they realize that they won¡¯t have the budget to pay the salary that they initially thought they would. It surprises me how often job seekers think that companies flat out lie to them. I personally take professional integrity very seriously and I believe a lot of recruiters (the good ones anyway) do as well. The point is, if we are not interested in a candidate, we tell them that (nicely of course). Be careful not to let a few disappointing experiences color your entire perception of hiring and job seeking. It¡¯s kind of like dating - remember your value, remember your worth. If a guy isn¡¯t interested in you then why would you be interested in him? Right? Same thing goes for a company - if they are telling you that you are not qualified, that¡¯s fine, you probably aren¡¯t, they would know afterall. But that certainly doesn¡¯t mean the end of things for you. Move on - there are hundreds of jobs out there and if you keep looking you will find the one that is perfect for you. |
