1.PGE2 is synthesized from eicosatetraenoic acids in the presence of cyclooxygenase and its level in the fluid of knee joints in OA is overexpression. Previous study showed that PGE2 could improve the concentration of intracellular cAMP and then activating protein kinase A to induce articular chondrocyte apoptosis。
2.The model of experimental OA in vivo is characterized by degradation of articular cartilage to repeat the circumstances of OA patients. The articular chondrocytes apoptosis is responsible for the degradation of articular cartilage. The models which mimic articular chondrocytes apoptosis in vitro to lead articular cartilage degradation are valuable in the evaluation of pathogenesis and therapeutic methods of OA。

1.PGE2 is synthesized by cyclooxygenase from eicosatetraenoic acids  and its level in the fluid of knee joints in OA is highly elevated. It is known that PGE2 activates its receptor,  increases the concentration of intracellular cAMP and then activates protein kinase A, which leads to apoptosis of articular chondrocytes。
2. The in vivo  experimental  model of OA  is characterized by the degradation of articular cartilage mimicking the circumstances of OA patients.  Also known is the fact that the apoptosis of articular chondrocytes is responsible for the degradation of articular cartilage.  A treatment that leads to articular chondrocytes apoptosis in vitro and a condition that prevent such events are valuable both for mechanism studies of pathogenesis and developing new therapeutic interventions of OA。

fluid of knee joints也叫synovial fluid, 炎症时不光articular chondrocytes, synoviacytes增生与活化也是重要环节。
