Abstract: The emission of marine diesel engine is more than a hot topic these days for ship design institute, engine designers and manufacturers, especially after Tier II has been effective in 1st January, 2011, which reduced NOx emission by about 20%. For the NOx formation of marine diesel engine is heavily depends on combustion, while fuel injection is an important in-cylinder approach to optimize combustion for emission reduction. The main objective of this paper is to investigate and evaluation the effect of various fuel injection strategies on NOx emission of small bore two-stroke marine diesel engine.
