Title: Influence of humic acid on the diffusion flux change of Se(IV) ions in Gaomiaozi bentonite
Abstract: This paper systematically investigated the influence of humic acid (HA) on the diffusion flux change of Se(IV) ions in Gaomiaozi bentonite, at different pH values, by using the diffusion apparatus and theoretical model developed by the Laboratory for Waste Management, Paul Scherrer Institut, Swiss. DIFFUSION experiments were conducted on Se(IV) ions in Gaomiaozi bentonite at pH 3, 7, 8 and 10, respectively. The experimental data were subjected to the theoretical simulations to build up a linear relationship between the total diffusion concentration (A) and the diffusion time (t), resulting in the effective diffusion coefficient (De) of Se(IV) ions in Gaomiaozi bentonite, and the rock factor (¦Á) of the soil sample. Besides, the diffusion flux at x = L was calculated, by which the relationship between the diffusion flux and the diffusion time was established. A comparison between the experimental results and the theoretical simulations was carried out to verify the reliability of the resulting De and ¦Á.
