Thermal mechanical calculation
revealed that the highest compressive
stresses concentrated above half way up the
snorkels due to the overlap of vertical and
hoop stresses. In the case of upper snorkel,
the concentrated compressive stresses
correspond to areas just above the tuyeres. In
addition, the upper snorkel lining would also
subject to vigorous lifting gas stirring and
cooling, which would add extra thermal
stresses and accelerating the erosion of the
working lining3.
The initial thermal stresses could
reach such a level forming micro-cracks and
weakening the hot face structure, which
would be easily penetrated by steel or slag,
leading to fast wear. Bricks with increased
stiffness and high thermal expansion
coefficient would intensify the thermal
stresses at the initial stage of the campaign.
A higher preheating temperature and well
soaked lining will reduce the compressive
stresses at the first heat.

热力学计算表明,因为垂直和环向应力的重叠作用,最高的压应力集中在连通管的上半部分。在连通管的上半部分,压缩应力正好集中对应于风嘴以上的区域。此外,上侧连通管衬里也会受到剧烈升降气体搅拌和冷却,这会施加额外的热应力并促进工作衬里的侵蚀【3】。最初的热应力可能会达到足够水平,导致形成微裂纹并削弱热面的结构,这会很容易被钢或渣穿透,导致快速磨损。砖通过增加刚性和高热膨胀系数会加大热应力在初始阶段的活动。较高的预热温度和浸泡良好的衬里会降低初热的压缩应力。
