cell death during the hypersensitive response, driving the cell wall reinforcement processes as well as serving as signal molecules for the activation of local and systemic resistance

想问一下 加下划线的contributing后边的部分是对:后边那两个的解释还是只对participating in the defence response by being toxic to the invading pathogen的解释?

这是我的理解:病原体攻击所产生的ROS有两方面作用:
(1)...
(2)...

其中(2)又是通过三种不同机制而完成,这三种机制均由“by” 引出(其中后面两个“by”省略了)。

不知道是否理解的正确。
