The preparation of Platenomycin, a macrolide antibiotic, through bioconversion of Midecamycin using A was investigated, giving the highest yield of Platenomycin at 5.654g/L. A purity of 97.74% was achieved after recovering the antibiotic from the fermentation broth through adjusting pH, and multiple purification of the crude residue. The final compound was verified as Platenomycin by MALDI-TOF-MS and NMR. Clinical results demonstrate that the macrolide is active against Staphyloccocus aureu, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Septic Streptococcus, and Porcine Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae.
