In the results section the description of the inhibition studies is not complete. Half of the text presented in that section is devoted to irrelevant background information. The remainder of the text gives only a relatively short presentation to a rather large figure. The rest of the text is adequate but has inconsistent and unorthodox formating and presentation style for each metabolite. The authors also refer to some metabolites as isomers, which is not appropriate just because they have the same m/z. The Methods section ought to have a separate statistics section. The text on lines 130 and 131 (F-test was done a priori) is confusing and misleading. I am assuming the authors meant the F-test was done prior to performing the t-test, in which case that is generally assumed and not necessary to mention (standard procedure). |
