At first ,thanks for your great explanation. I find it that sometimes, there's something in common between English and Chinese, akin to that Chinese intonation lalso makes a same word different meanings. For example, Chinese words "讨厌“， In general, it means hate, but, 你一定听过女人撒娇发嗲，特别上上海女人，说“讨厌”， “讨厌啦”等，由于语气和音调的变化，让词意发生了变化，当然这一类是指“反义”。更详细的英语分析，比如网络教程“Mastering Ameican Accent"里面有一部专门解释了intonation在口语中的运用。
