In general, there are discontinuities in the 1 nm MgO layer. Thus the thickness of the film must be less than 1 nm to ensure its continuity. As shown in the following diagram, we can obtain steady performance by inserting a layer of 3 nm MgO at the top and 4 nm at the bottom of the trilayers.
