| In addition to a role in tumor angiogenesis, Dll4-Notch signaling also plays a crucial role in T-cell lymphocyte development and differentiation. Gene targeting studies have demonstrated that Notch1 is the essential Notch receptor for T-cell lineage commitment, while Dll4 is the Notch ligand required to induce Notch signaling in thymic immigrant cells and to actively determine T-cell fate. Dll4 is constitutively expressed on the thymic epithelial cells (TEC) as well as on endothelial cells. |
