Abstract: An intermediate aluminophosphate phase [Al2P2O8(OH)2]¡¤2[HOCH2CH2NH3], denoted as APO-M, is isolated in a pure form during the crystallization of a three-dimensional open-framework APO-CJ3, and characterized by XRD, TG-DTA, MAS NMR, ICP and CHN analyses. Our studies show that APO-M can transform to APO-CJ3, as well as to AlPO4-21 under hydrothermal treatment. The phase transformation process has been further studied. It is believed that the phase transformation from APO-M to AlPO4-21 is via a solid-to-solid conversion process, which has been confirmed by the dry-crystal conversion experiment.
