How to Make Smart Goals

Another new semester begins, many of us may have new goals for life, study or work. In order to realize objectives, we need not only ambitions but also practical plans. Goals can be long-term and short-term. Here are some tips for u to make SMART goals. S——specific. Ur goal must be specific, not vague. For example, "I want to improve my English" is a wish, not a goal. A specific one can be "I want to pass the IELTS exam", or "i want to finish my thesis by June." M——measurable. U must find some way to measure the process. For example, if ur goal is to finish a 300-page book within 2 months. U can plan to read 5 pages every day. In this way u can check whether ur goal is well ongoing. A——achievable. U should choose and arrange ur goal resonablly and according to ur capability. If u set it too high, u will probably get frustrated by the failure to achieve it. If the goal is too high for u at present, u can divide it into two or more sub-goals and achieve them step by step. R——realistic. Try to choose realistic goals. Don't mix some fantacies with dreams or goals. Be fully aware of the realistic situations in which u r going to fight for ur goals. T——timely. By when r u going to finish this goal? How much time do u have? How much time r u going to spend on it each day? These questions should be carefully thought about. It is suggested that u make a time table for the goal, and adjust it if needed. I share this with all of u friends, to encourage u and myself. Hope we can all make SMART goals and success~~ |
