折射率是有机硅聚合物重要的光学性质,随取代基种类及数量不同,有机硅聚合物折射率可在1.38~1.54范围内变化,低折射率的有机硅聚合物可用作光导纤维的内保护涂层,高折射率的有机硅材料则是迄今为止最为理想的大功率LED封装材料,是半导体照明领域亟需解决的关键材料。因此,若已知基团的摩尔折射度和摩尔体积,则可对有机硅化合物或聚合物的折射率进行预测或者根据聚合物折射率要求,从结构上进行对聚合物进行分子设计。
利用基团贡献法分别计算得到各化合物的摩尔折射度和摩尔体积,按照式(4)计算得到各化合物20℃下的折射率并与文献进行比较,结果如表4所示。可见摩尔折射度预测值与实验值之间的偏差小,两者之间的一致性令人满意。
从表4和图3所示结果可以看出,含有苯基、乙烯基的硅烷和硅氧烷的摩尔折射度及摩尔体积预测值与实验值之间的误差较大。这是由于硅原子采用sp3杂化方式与周围原子形成四个σ成键轨道的同时也通过sp3d或sp3d2等杂化轨道形式形成pπ-dπ键。pπ-dπ键使得硅原子与周围原子基团间的键除了原有的单键特性外,还具有一部分双键的性质,硅原子与苯基及乙烯基之间存在着较强的pπ-dπ作用。把硅原子与周围四个原子基团之间的价键作用当作σ键,才使得含苯基、乙烯基的硅烷和硅氧烷的摩尔折射度及摩尔体积预测值与实验值之间出现较大的误差。

Refractive index is an important optical property of organosilicon polymer.Optical property of organosilicon polymer ranges from 1.38 to 1.54 with the difference of  variety and quantity of substituent. Organosilicon polymer with low refractive index can be used as inner protecting coating of optical fiber while organosilicon polymer with high refractive index is the most perfect encapsulating material of high-power LED so far and also critical material that is urgent solved in semiconductor lighting. Therefore if molar refraction and mole volume of the radical are already known refractive index of organosilicone or polymer can be predicted or molecular designing of polymer can be carried out on the structure according to the request of refractive index of polymer.

Molar refraction and mole volume of all kinds of compounds is calculated using group contribution method. Refractive index of all kinds of compounds at 20℃ obtained by the calculation of the equation(4)and the document is compared and the results are shown in table 4.It is obvious that the divagation of molar refraction between predicted value and experimental value is small and the consistency of them is satisfying.

It can be seen from table 4 and figure 3 that divagation of molar refraction between predicted value and experimental value of silane containing phenyl and ethylene and siloxane is comparatively large.This is because silicon atom forms four σ bonding orbitals by sp3 hybrid orbitals with atoms around and pπ-dπ link by sp3d and sp3d2 and other hybrid orbital. pπ-dπ link makes the link between the silicon atom and atom around have the character of single lingage as well as double link。There exists high pπ-dπ acting between silicon atom and phenyl and ethylene.If the link between silicon atom and four atoma around is σ link the divagation of molar refraction between predicted value and experimental value of silane containing phenyl and ethylene and siloxane is comparatively large.
