During a recent international meeting in Germany, I met the general manager of Rayner, the company that manufactured Ridley’s first IOLs. Mr. Donald Munro informed me of a living patient in South Africa who received a Ridley IOL in the early years of IOL implantation. We were able to track down the patient’s ophthalmologist, Dr. Chris Van Niekerk, who told us about the now 70-year-old woman. In 1952, after removal of a traumatic cataract, an IOL was implanted. The most recent examination of the patient, on July 30, 2009, showed the IOL in the capsular bag behind a large anterior capsulectomy. The space between the posterior iris and posterior capsule appeared very large. Fifty-seven years after the implantation, the patient’s uncorrected distance visual acuity was 20/30 (0.7), 20/20 (1.0) with ＋0.5–2.00 x 24. 求助翻译最后一句红色字体部分！ [ Last edited by fbwg on 2012-10-24 at 08:06 ] |
