If you can cook, can you kill ?

It was many years from now, after the marriage, we received a lot of gifts, but one of them is very special, it is a bird called Tun, and that is the very first time I saw such thing in my life. I cannot distinguish if it looks more like a goose or a big duck. My parents in law told us that bird is farmed from their hometown and the bird is good for health and urged us to cook it. As my wife is still a greenbird in kitchen work, the responsibility is on me naturally, the bird is so big and smell so sting I hate to appoarch it but the order from my wife must be obeyed. So after a long thinking I walked into the kitchen. It is not easy as the bird head is always swinging side to side and it seems realizing the danger of being killed and tried to escape from my hand, finally I get hold the neck, put it against the chopping block and cut off the head before it bite my fingers. Very quickly I threw the head into the bin but had to collect it back because my wife told me that is part of the meal and must not been abandoned. But the actual terrible thing is, I was so scared at the beginning and just want to finish my work and walked out of the kitchen, so right after I chopped off the Tun's head, and the 10kg body fell to ground I thought it was done. But I was wrong. after around 30 minutes I returned to the kitchen and prepare to carry on and to my surprise, the Tun without head is still walking around. I cannot held such big shock and I cried out real loud. My wife laughed at me for coward!!! chicken-hearted, whatever words she knew to express her teasing on me. And of course, blood everywhere in the kitchen that cost me another half an hour to clean up. Well, experience is important, and from that onward, I am not fear to kill, but only when it is needed, and from order of my wife. |

Nice to get to know your maiden experience of killing a poultry. this is the first time for me to read a essay of killing a poultry. the essay aroused my complex , intricate feeling. This year I faced similar situations. In May I have to inject narcotic into a clever cat myself. after a student and I have done the same surgery so many times, I still feel not so comfortable. it is complex. But for experiment research, cat is sacrificed trully. I think that I try to minimize the numbers of experiment cat by designing better experiment program, completing animal surgery as quick as possible, as accurate as possible. Today is late. I have to go home. Chat next time. Happy weekend. Staying alone is necessary to read ourselves. while we belong a family. Be myself is the first thing for play a satisfied role in family, work. I like the my woman role in writing state. Thank you, the pretty forum.  |

| All things are dificult before they are easy.After having some experience we can do it better.What's more ,we also can teach some else about it. I never kill a bird at all but I learn something from your story this time.Thank you for sharing it. |

 I had TUN for the first time in Anhui province this Mid-autumn Day. It was really large and delicious. I've not seen a live Tun yet. For me I cannot cook, not to say kill. My BF is even scared of insect. That's nothing.  [ Last edited by tuqin2575 on 2012-10-18 at 20:36 ] |
