Dear XX:


Thank you for your recent letter inquiring into postdoctoral opportunities within our research group at XX. I realize that XX（我组的另一个同学在那联培过） may have given you some indication as to our programs here at XX.  But the situation, as it now appears, as he also knows, is such that our limited resources are committed for the next two years of my existing grant, given the large number of graduate students already here and with many more incoming later this month, and so I cannot even consider postdoctoral candidates at this time. However, should the situation change, a potential happening due to pending grant applications (one is going in later this week, which I may hear about sooner than later), etc., I would be delighted to consider you further. At this point in time, though, I’m afraid that I cannot be encouraging.
Thanks again for thinking of us, and best of luck in securing a position to your satisfaction.
