To assess fully the correspondence of this signal with the imine carbon, we performed a cross-polarization contact time variation experiment, which shows different trends of increasing intensity for carbons with different protonation states. With the exception of the imine, all of the resonance signals between 120 and 160 ppm corresponded to quaternary carbons (aromatic and amide); therefore, we expected the intensity of the imine carbon signal to be significantly different from those of the rest of the signals in the same range |
