For the major elements, the following recommendations are given for the determination of the integration depth: a) Define the coating thickness as the depth at which the mass fraction of the major element is reduced to 50 % of the maximum value in the coating. The maximum value is the highest mass fraction between start and Zn = 84 %. b) Define the width of the interface region (which is equivalent to the practical depth resolution) as the difference between the depth at which the mass fractions of the major element in the coating is reduced to 84 % of the maximum value in the coating and the depth at which it is reduced to 16 % of its maximum value. c) The integration depth is the sum of the coating thickness and the interface width. |
