Computational Biology
The research focus of the Computational Biology Group is on the structure-dynamics-function relationship of proteins and the membrane-protein interaction using the method of molecular dynamics simulations. For the latter, the aim is to elucidate e.g. the role of lipid-protein interactions for the function of ion channels or in membrane fusion. A second focus is put on the in silico design of protein binding sites with predefined properties. Here, a main project is the prediction of structural and dynamical properties of MHC:peptide complexes as well as the prediction of the peptide binding strength to MHC and its relation to T-Cell recognition.

September 2011. The Computational Biology Group is looking for a motivated and team-oriented PhD student. Applicants should have successfully completed their Masters or Diploma degree preferably in physics or theoretical (bio)chemistry. Experience in Molecular Modeling or structural biology is of advantage, however, applicants from other fields of research are most welcome. Topic: Interactions at Biological Membranes
