Particles of corn stalks with higher density could be prepared under a certain temperature and pressure from its original amorphous raw materials which are loose and friable. Such high density and strength particles with uniform particle size are appropriate to conserve and transport. In fact, its combustion performance is greatly improved though there is only a little increase for its heat of combustion.
The pyrolysis residues of oil shale and biomass are of their own drawbacks in practical use, because it’s difficult for the pyrolysis residues to be used as a fuel independently while it will cause some boiler slagging and corrosion problems to use biomass as a fuel. However, when the pyrolysis residues of oil shale and biomass are used together as a mixed fuel, there would be no residue left due to highly combustible of the corn stalks. In this way, the heat of the remnants is utilized and the hazardous to the environment is accordingly reduced, which is of great significance for the utilization of oil shale.
