The second formulation is not strictly derived. Moreover, the minimum energy of activated molecules is actually the microscopic quantity in the molecular level while the average energy of reactants is the macro-physical quantity. So obviously, it is not accurate enough to define an macroscopic physical quantity obtained by experiments by two different types of capacity. However, the third formulation is strictly derived from theory based on views of statistical mechanics according to Tolman's formulation. |
