The intensity ratio of the D and G bands (ID/IG) is commonly used to evaluate the quality of carbon materials. No obvious D band was observed for any of the MWCNTs dispersed on substrates (Supplementary Fig. 6), suggesting the high quality of the starting materials. The average ID/IG values were respectively 0.38, 0.30 and 0.28 for our single-, bi- and trilayer GNRs with 10–20-nm widths.Because defect density on the pristine MWCNTs was low, the D-band Raman signal of our GNRs should be mainly due to their open edges24,25. The ID/IG values were lower than those for GNRs obtained by lithographic etching of pristine graphene sheets (ID/IG was ,2 for a bilayer GNR of,28-nm width obtained by lithographic patterning (X. R. Wang et al., unpublished data); see Supplementary Fig. 5),indicating the high quality of our GNRs, in particular the high degree of edge smoothness.

D带和G带的强度比通常用来评估含碳材料的质量。从分散的MWCNTs的底物(补充的图表6)上没有发现明显的D带,不能表明原始材料的高质量。平均的ID/IG的比值分别是0.38,0.30,0.28对应于单个的,两个和三个革兰氏阴性菌的10-20纳米的宽度。有缺点的密度在早期的MWCNTs上很低,革兰氏阴性菌的D带的拉曼信号主要归功于它们开放的边缘24,25.革兰氏阴性菌的ID/IG的比值低于这些从原始的石板印刷的已经腐蚀的图表中得到的数据(从图表中获得的ID/IG的比值是2,对于双分子层的革兰氏阴性菌其宽度是28纳米)(X.
