The microstructures of WC-10Co cemented carbides with different amount of plate-like WC seeds are shown in Fig.2. (The addition of plate-like seeds helps the development of plate-like WC grains.) As shown in Fig.2, with the increase of seeds, more plate-like WC grains with more regular shapes and bigger aspect ratio are formed, and the average size of WC grains becomes larger. When the addition of seeds reaches 10 mass%, plate-like WC grains and the average grain size have maximum values, but there are some pores.
