Sample preparation of a deformed metal is nearly the same as fully annealed one, but electro-polish is necessary. Severely deformed metal can not be studied by EBSD, and it is easier to do EBSD in sheet normal plane than in cross-section. It is very important to set the best SEM condition when doing EBSD on deformed metal: the electron beam should be very strong and the step size should be very small.
