Don't forget the electrochemical reaction occurs at surface. If the chemical for some reason can't form sort of stong enough interaction with electrode, then CV peak can't be found. Specifically, if the CV scan speed is high, more reactant is used kinetically, the anodic or cathodic current peak is easy to find. Conversely, the CV scan speed is low, relative low content of reactant at the electrode surface is reached, it is more difficult to find CV peak. On the other hand, is your electrolyte conductive enough? If not, the electrochemical reaction is going to be more sluglish. |
