The grinding ratio and grinding efficiency of wheels which were manufactured with the above treated diamond abrasive were investigated. The results indicate that the treated dimond abrasive enhances the grinding ratio of wheels observably under the dry condition. By observing the wheel surface with microscope after grinding, it can be approved that the pullout strength of resin was enhanced and less abrasive was brushed off. Compared with dimond wheels treated only with coupling agent, the diamond wheels treated with this new method have an increase of 50% on the grinding ratio. |

| The diamond powders are pretreated by sodium hydroxide solution and modified with silicane coupling agent. The grinding ratio and grinding efficiency of resin wheels made from the above treated diamond powders are investigated. The results indicate that the grinding ratio of wheels increases observably by treated diamond powders under the simple grinding condition. By observing the wheel surface with microscope after grinding, it shows that bonding strength between resin and diamond powders increases and abrasive worn off decreases, and the grinding ratio increases by 50% compared to the wheel made from powders treated with coupling agent only. |

| The diamond powder was firstly preprocessed by sodium hydroxide solution. After surface modification with silane coupling agent, it was used to make resin wheels, the grinding ratio and grinding efficiency of which were then investigated. Experimental results indicated that the treated dimond abrasive enhanced the grinding ratio of wheels remarkably under the dry condition. The observation of the grinded wheel surface with microscope also demonstrated that the pullout strength of resin was enhanced and less abrasive brushed off. Compared with processing only by coupling agent, the proposed solution could increase 50% of the grinding ratio of diamond wheels. |
