6.1.7 Application of the validated cleaning procedure It is necessary to follow exactly all the steps and conditions listed in the validated cleaning procedure to ensure that the cleaning results are similar each time when the same changeover appears again in the production schedule. This also means that the configuration of the equipment must remain the same as described in the validated cleaning procedure, e.g. if a larger formulation vessel is used in the process, either the quantity of cleaning medium must be adjusted upwards or the recirculation time increased to meet the requested cleaning level. In these cases, the cleaning procedure has to be re-validated to confirm that the requested cleaning level can be achieved under these new, modified conditions. Train the operators to adhere strictly to the cleaning process. For example changing the cleaning medium, decreasing / increasing the cleaning medium quantity, shortening / increasing the time of the rinsing cycle, or using a less concentrated detergent may distort the outcome of the residual impurity analysis. Omitting a manual cleaning step may also cause material to be left in the equipment. |
