Abstract
Photoirradiation with a 150 W medium-pressure Hg lamp for 17 h in acetontrile as the solvent replaces the benzene ligand in the cationic complexes [(η6-C6H6)Ru(CH3CN)2(L)]2+ and [(η6-C6H6)Ru(CH3CN)(L2)]2+ (L=CH3CN, PPh3, L2=dppe, bipy) with acetonitrile. These replacements are equally clean to those reported before for analogous CpRu+ complexes. Crystal structures of the products obtained are included.
