"The present report is maiinly on the radical polymerization of acrylamide under the catalyzation of  ammonium ceric nitrate and pentaerythrite as a redox system, according to the current study on highly branching macromolecule. A series of muti-branching nonionic water-soluble polyacrylamide were synthesized. The synthesis methods were investigated systematically, and the best one was found. The stability of the aqueous solution of polyacrylamide was studied by the determination of its specific viscosity. The results showed that the new nonionic polyacrylamide was rather stable below pH=12. Based on results above, on-site oil extraction was employed, and the flocculation of muti-branching polyacrylamide was studied. The result showed that when flocculant forms complex, the effect was quite satisfactory, which provides theoretical principle for its applications to some extent.

Based on the current research of multi-branch-like macromolecules, a new kind of multi-branch-like non-ionic water-soluble polyacrylamide was synthesized in this paper, using Ceric ammonium nitrate (high valence cerium) and pentaerythritol (polyol) as the redox system to induce the radical polymerization of polyacrylamide. The synthesis conditions were studied systematically and the optimum synthesis conditions of the new polyacrylamide have been confirmed. The stability of polyacrylamide solution was analyzed through determining the solution intrinsic viscosity, and it was revealed that the solutions of the new non-ionic polyacrylamide had a good stability when pH value was less than 12. And then, the flocculation performance of multi-branch-shaped polyacrylamide in oil-field produced water was researched, and the results showed that the polyacrylamide with the inorganic flocculant aluminum compound had a better flocculation performance, which provided a theoretical basis for applications.
