Recruit Ph.D. Students and Postdocs
Yingchao Yang is an associate professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Missouri (Mizzou). Prior to joining Mizzou, he served as an assistant professor at the University of Maine.
Yang’s research interests span in the loop of nanomaterial fabrication, property evaluation, and advanced applications. Specifically, one-dimensional (1D), two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) nanomaterials have been synthesized, functionalized, scaled up towards energy storage, carbon dioxide capture and reduction, hydrogen generation, water desalination and air filtration.
As of 2023, Yang has been successful in securing several externally funded research projects from agencies including NSF, DOE EPSCoR, DOE National Laboratories, DOI BOR, and USDA Laboratory. His research has also been supported by Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Lawrence Berkley National Laboratory, and Idaho National Laboratory. Yang is the recipient of National Science Foundation Early Career Award, as well as 2023 UMaine Faculty Mentor Impact Award and 2021 UMaine College of Engineering Early Career Research Award.
Recruit Ph.D. Students:
Yang’s group plans to recruit 3 Ph.D. students in Spring/Fall 2024. The main research topics include synthesis of high-entropy nanomaterials, in situ mechanics in SEM and TEM, fabrication, hybridization, and testing of carbon materials for supercapacitors and lithium battery, as well as high-entropy catalysts for decarbonization. Applications are welcome from students with a master’s degree or those who are about to obtain a master’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering. Admitted students will receive full research assistantship support.
Language and GPA Requirements: TOEFL 80 (Individual category: 17 or better)/IELTS 6.5 (Individual category: 6 or better), GRE, and GPA 3.0 or better.
If you have interest, please combine your CV, one/two-page research interest, experience, and plan, bachelor and master transcripts, and one representative publication (if you have) into a PDF file and then send to yingchao.yang@missouri.edu. I will check your applications in a timely manner.
Hire Postdoctoral Fellow:
Yang’s group also plans to hire two postdoctoral fellows in 2024. The research focus will be on the synthesis of high-entropy nanomaterials and their applications in energy storage and catalysis. The research group offers competitive salaries and benefits.
If you have interest, please combine your CV, two-page research interest, experience, and plan, and two representative publications into a PDF file and then send to yingchao.yang@missouri.edu. I will check your applications in a timely manner.
